Periodontal Treatment

Periodontal Treatment is an all encompassing word relating to the treatment of Periodontal Disease. Periodontal Disease is the chronic condition where bacteria present in dental plaque breaks down the gum and bone tissue surrounding teeth. Early signs of periodontal disease are odor and bleeding gums. Late stage of gum disease, are increased odor and mobile or loose teeth.

People often are unaware that they suffer from gum disease as it is not painful until its late stages when teeth are mobile. Unfortunately at this time, treatment options become more limited.

Incidentally, for a healthy mouth, dental exams are recommended at least twice a year to detect any occurring problems early for the best and widest range of treatment options.

There is current research relating active gum disease to heart disease. Research shows that it is so important to keep to a routine maintenance schedule for cleanings for not only your oral health but for your general health too! Your dentist will determine your exam and cleaning interval schedule which is specific for your dental needs.
